Glad you’re here! Step right in to WisdomSpace Library, a resource center for anyone who wants to help build a better world, for us and our great-great-grandkids.

Like many others, we believe that there is an urgent need for a collective quantum leap towards wiser and more sustainable ways to live on the planet. This shift is needed at every level of social organization: the individual, family and friends, the workplace, our communities, regions, nations, and planet. We understand that the word “communities” means different things to different people. For some, their sense of community is strongest in relation to their local neighborhood, but for others it might be their work, educational setting, online network, spiritual community, or interest group. We believe that the shift to a global wisdom culture depends on courageous ordinary citizens taking steps to strengthen and evoke the collective wisdom of the communities in their daily lives.

WisdomSpace Library brings a special focus to supporting visionary community leaders and spiritual activists who are initiating the shift to a global wisdom culture by pioneering integral approaches to building wise communities. The resources in WisdomSpace Library are designed to help people see their community work as part of a web that stretches from the individual to the global and from the present to the past and future. For example, we highlight the important relationships between the development of personal wisdom and community wisdom, between local issues and global trends, and between our moment in time today and historical and evolutionary patterns that led us here.

No one person or organization knows exactly what a global wisdom culture looks like or all the ways to help us get there. In our research, we have discovered a wonderful diversity of ideas and approaches to developing wisdom across the social spectrum.Amidst this diversity of approaches we have identified a set of common principles and practices that seem to nurture wisdom at every level. For the sake of simplicity, we summarize these patterns in the form of our WisdomSpace mascot, a bear cub named L.A.R.S. L.A.R.S stands for Listen, Appreciate, Respect, and Share. L.A.R.S. represents the attitude and habits of curiosity, openness, and compassion which create the safe space required for wisdom to flourish.

Just as there is no one path to developing a global wisdom culture, there is simply no way to get there alone. The exciting journey of discovery that lies ahead will require all of us to listen deeply to our inner wisdom, share our pieces of the puzzle, and take steps together led by our hearts, our courage, and our convictions.
